Dear darkestnightex author,

I'm [archiveofourown.org profile] failsafe!

Another first for me, this is my first inherently-dark fic exchange, so please bear with my delicate heart. In the Optional Details section on AO3, I put the following information as hard do-not-wants as instructed by the form:

Hard DNWs: Please do not write any unrequested forms of sexual violence or coercion for me. Even if dark sexual themes are permissible per prompt, please no snuff or serious or permanent injury associated with sex. Please do not write excessive gore beyond what one might see in a PG-13 setting, though canon-typical violence is okay certainly. Please do not write a heavily nihilistic narrative for me. Even in the midst of misery I would prefer not all-hope-ever-is-lost.

I have a pretty standard format for these letters, so please forgive any redundancy in my usual dislikes list. Please also note that as long as you abide by the above, the dislikes list can be considered flexible to a degree if it would help with your narrative since these are not necessarily supposed to have happy endings or the like.

Dislikes: character-bashing towards anybody, noncon, explicit gore, breathplay, bloodplay*, nihilism, utterly hopeless forever and ever ending, no powers AUs

*Basically what I mean here for this exchange is the above-mentioned no serious or permanent injury related to sex.

Likes: canon-typical violence, missing scenes, UST, emotional ambiguity, found families, developing or established relationships, time travel, earned second chances, dealing with consequences, canon-divergent AUs, earned happy endings, groundhog day trope, monster-of-the-week adventures, casefic

Because of the extremely extensive additional tagging for this exchange, in my fandom-specific prompts I will list the tags requested but write general prompts that bear them in mind rather than addressing each tag. If you don't see something in any of the prompts that jumps out at you, feel free to bypass them and go with something from the requested tag list as your source of inspiration. I want to see the story you want to write. Prompts are there to help, not hinder. I hope you have fun writing for me!

Dear genex author,

This is my first time participating in a definitely-gen exchange. I am really excited about it, but this is somewhat new ground for me, even if a lot of my ship-fics could be read as gen with the right goggles. I am [archiveofourown.org profile] failsafe on AO3. This letter is some prompting guidelines but is not binding. I am excited to see whatever you come up with and this letter is to help rather than bind you!

I retool my dislikes and likes from pretty much the same pool for every exchange. I'm trying to make it a little more enlightening for gen specifically this go-around. You can reference any of my other dear author letters for the typical list and anything else you'd like to know about me that I don't share here.

Dislikes: character bashing towards anybody, explicit gore, nihilism, hopeless endings (but sad is okay), no powers AUs

Likes: missing scenes, platonic affection, found families, loyalty, worldbuilding, epistolary fiction, monster-of-the-week / slice of life adventures, earned second chances, dealing with consequences, post-canon, bonding experiences, funny-awkward situations, "what if" / canon divergence AUs, earned happy endings, holidays, casefic, groundhog day trope, healing, canon-typical themes

Dear everywoman author,

Thank you so much for writing for me! And I'm so sorry if you caught this letter when it was a placeholder for a few hours longer than it should have been. I started my Master's program the week that the sign-ups were closing up, and I was kind of buried. As always, this letter is to provide you with prompts and guidance, but it is not binding. If you have something else in mind that diverges from my prompts, feel free! I can't wait to see what you come up with. My AO3 name is [archiveofourown.org profile] failsafe.

I am comfortable with any rating, and Explicit is totally fine if you feel inclined, but I would prefer no PWP. Crossovers are okay with me, if there are any fandoms here which you find compatible. Now I'll give you some dislikes, likes, then some fandom-specific prompts.

Dislikes: character bashing towards anybody, noncon, explicit gore, breathplay, bloodplay*, nihilism, hopeless ending (but sad is okay), no powers AUs

*I always put that I don't like bloodplay, and I don't. However, I have a fandom that literally involves vampires and others where I'm talking about death and canon-typical violence. I don't mind blood being present in a story and maybe even a bit of sensual creep about it. I just don't want sexy-injury-sexy-times to an excessive degree.

Likes: canon-typical violence, missing scenes, UST, emotional ambiguity, found families, developing or established relationships, time travel, bedsharing, loyalty, worldbuilding, epistolary fiction, monster-of-the-week / slice of ordinary life adventures, earned second chances, dealing with consequences, post-canon, "what if" / canon divergence AUs, earned happy endings, holidays, casefic, groundhog day trope, mysteries, healing, somewhat dark fic

Since there's a bunch of them, I'm putting my character selections in alphabetical order, so the "main" characters might not be first and please don't perceive it as preference. Groups come last. Fandoms also have nothing to do with preference order, that was just directly copied from my sign-up form.

Dear NPT Author,

First of all, thank you for writing something for me! I can't wait to see what you come up with. This letter is to provide you with guidelines about things I might like to see. It isn't binding, and if you have another story your heart is set on telling, please feel free to use that idea instead. I am [archiveofourown.org profile] failsafe on AO3.

I am comfortable with any rating, and Explicit is totally fine if you feel inclined, but I would prefer no PWP. Crossovers are okay with me, if there are any fandoms here which you find compatible. Now I'll give you some dislikes, likes, then some fandom-specific prompts.

Dear shipswap Author,

Thank you for writing something for me! This letter is intended to guide you as to some of my likes and dislikes, as well as to provide some prompts for you to consider. If you have a different idea in mind for the pairing we matched on that you want to write, feel free to follow what you're most-passionate about writing. Prompts are just guidelines here to help you! I love surprises, too.

In some cases, I may have chosen more relationships for a fandom due to availability or interest. If a fandom has a shorter prompt section, it is for this reason. I have only requested things that I'm interested in receiving, I promise!

To get the dullest part out of the way, here is my standard list of things I do not want in a fic.

Dislikes: character bashing towards anybody, noncon, prolonged torture scenes, gore, breathplay, bloodplay, nihilism, hopeless endings (but sad is okay)

And now for things I like and enjoy in fic.

Likes: canon-typical violence, missing scenes, UST, emotional ambiguity, found families, developing or established relationships, time travel, bedsharing, loyalty, worldbuilding, epistolary fiction, monster-of-the-week / slice of ordinary life adventures, earned second chances, dealing with consequences, post-canon, "what if" scenarios, earned happy endings, holidays (winter or otherwise), casefic, groundhog day trope, mysteries, healing, somewhat dark fic

Some of the fandoms selected have overlapping canon. Crossovers between those are definitely welcome but not specifically requested. I think people like to cross over The Librarians and Leverage quite a bit, so that is cool if you want to do that, too! Again, just saying I am happy with them, not that I am pressuring you to do them.

For ratings, I am comfortable with anything from G to E, but I would prefer no PWP.

Dear Chocolatier,

Thank you for writing something for me! I'm excited to see what you come up with. The following letter should be considered a guideline, and if you feel compelled to deviate from it, feel free! As long as it's not something specifically listed as something I don't want, then I love surprises, too!

This letter is a guideline meant to help you, that's all. It's also going to be very long for this exchange, so I want to make it easy for you to navigate. To navigate to the fandom you came looking for, you can use CTRL + F for the way the fandom you're looking for is listed on the tagset. You can do the same with relationships. Some sections will be longer than others due to number of relationships requested. Don't think that a shorter section means I want it less! I am very excited about everything I requested.

I'll start with general likes and dislikes, then move to fandom specifics.

Likes: monster-of-the-week / slice of ordinary life adventures, missing scenes, UST, emotional ambiguity, found families, building or established relationships, time travel, bedsharing, loyalty, worldbuilding, epistolary fiction, canon-typical violence, earned second chances, dealing with consequences, post-canon, "what if" scenarios, earned happy endings, holidays (winter or otherwise), casefic, groundhog day trope, mysteries, healing

For ratings, I am comfortable with anything from G to E, but I would prefer no PWP. I also do not under any circumstances want anything above the T rating for any characters who are not both mentally and physically adults with regard to sexual content. I think this only applies to Puella Magi Madoka Magica as far as ships are concerned, but it applies across the board.

If you are interested in crossovers between any of my requested fandoms, I'm totally happy to receive them. There is no pressure nor any official request, but I think that most of them occur in compatible time periods and universes except The Hunger Games and Star Wars.

In any case where you want to include an un-nominated or un-requested chracter as part of your story, feel free. I like all of the canons I have requested and don't tend to narrow my focus to one or two people.

Dislikes: character bashing towards anybody, noncon, prolonged torture scenes, gore, breathplay, bloodplay, nihilism, hopeless endings (but sad is okay)

If you want to find more about me on the internet, my AO3 name is failsafe and this is my tumblr, though I've been kind of slow on it lately.

Please note, this letter contains a few sporadic spoilers or at least strong allusions to spoilers for The Force Awakens and other fandoms, so tread carefully.

Dear Yuletide Author,

Thank you so much for writing something for me! I hope you are enjoying the season so far, and happy whatever-winter-holiday-you-celebrate!

I'll start with some general likes and dislikes to guide you along, then get to fandom-specifics.

Likes: monster-of-the-week / slice of ordinary life adventures, missing scenes, UST, building or established relationships, time travel, bedsharing, loyalty, worldbuilding, epistolary fiction, canon-typical violence, earned second chances, dealing with consequences, post-canon, "what if" scenarios, earned happy endings, holidays (winter or otherwise), mythology/folklore

Dislikes: character bashing towards anybody, noncon, gore, breathplay, bloodplay, nihilism, hopeless endings (but sad is okay)

I'm happy with any rating and if you want to do shippy fic I'm fine with everything from chaste affection to explicit, but I'd prefer it not be PWP.

For either of the fandoms where I have requested two characters, I do not mind if only one of them appears. Since yuletide works based on and matching for recipients, I assume that if we were matched that you'd like to write both of them. However, if something works better for you that only directly includes one of them, that is A-okay with me. But I'd love to receive fic of my requested pairs together, too, obviously.

Any other characters you see fit to include, nominated or not, are welcome to appear.

This varies from fandom to fandom and exchange to exchange, but if a crossover of some form tickles your fancy, I'd be happy to receive crossovers between any of my requested fandoms. No pressure though, I just happened to notice that I thought there were enough compatible themes.

Any of my prompts are just suggestions. If you don't care for or click with any of them and have a different direction you'd like to go based on my requests, please write what you are most interested in writing for me. I'm sure I'll love it, and I want you to have fun!

My AO3 name is failsafe and you can find me on tumblr.

So I'm planning on making another addme_fandom post in a minute, and I wanted to actually do a short post here before I got to that. Since I wrote another Dear Author letter the other day, I was reminded that I'd tried to do this back when I had a lot more time on my hands. I've noticed that my tumblr posts have gotten a lot more self-chatty with little response again - though I have gotten a few, so that's good. So I thought maybe I'd come back here. Hi anyone who's still around from the last time I added a few people! Sorry I flaked.

Since the last time I made that one post, I have gotten a full-time job. It's in a cemetery office, which isn't as spooky as it sounds. The scariest thing I deal with is our ancient filing system. Weird useless fact: file folders from the 40s smell just fine and hold up well, file folders from the 80s deteriorate and smell in such a way that it makes me feel ill.

I'm hoping to get back into school next year, fingers crossed. I just got this job back in June, but I'm already looking to leave. Experiencing work in an office, even a small one like this, just makes me want to run back to school forever. So I've decided to pursue teacher education, I think, pretty certainly. I really miss my subbing job.

As far as fandom stuff goes, I've gotten into yet another anime. Lately, I don't seem to watch much of anything that isn't animated. Somehow, even when what's happening in anime is emotionally distressing me, it's less high stress because of the tendency for stuff to only require 20 minute increment time commitments.

The most recent one is the Fate series. It feels like one of those "problematic fave" things. Sometimes I find out about specific things Type Moon has created and sorta feel "Please say it isn't so." Like almost all the material in that Illya AU anime. Or 99% of Heaven's Feel. But I can still say that by and large I love this stuff and really recommend it. Both the Unlimited Blade Works anime and Zero are on netflix, though I think UBW might have only the first season so far. It's fun to be on the UBW bandwagon before it's gotten old and left without me.

A few friends of mine and I have all agreed that Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, Fate/Zero, Steins;Gate, and Robotics;Notes all take place in the same universe and it's so much fun working on all the connective tissue. The semicolon ones are already canonically connected and developing that further is a lot of fun.

I'm working on two different Fate fics. One is Fate/Zero fandom and is about Gilgamesh and Saber. I'm reluctant to say whether it is a shippy fic or not, but it definitely does involve expanding upon their canon relationship in a canon divergent AU.

The other fic I just started today, but I've been thinking about it for a while. I am really, really hoping to have it ready for posting by December. It's sort of a Christmas season fic about Rin following UBW. Sort of. It's got some time travel stuff and is based on a lot of Christmas movie type tropes. I feel so ashamed but the initial idea came from thinking about The Family Man, which is a Nicholas Cage movie my family likes. Suggesting a serious thought and a Nicholas Cage movie in the same sentence seems odd, but it grew out from there. But basically it's about Past/Present/Future, stuff dating back at least to A Christmas Carol but probably before, and family and figuring out what you want out of life the most. I'm really excited and nervous about it, but it's actually taking some form after months of thinking about it.

Trying to learn to write chaptered fics that make sense and see them through to the end has been a goal of mine for a few years now, and this month has been the most promise I've had in that area. One reason I'd like to make some friends to chat back and forth with more personally than tumblr tends to allow is for moral support for that type of thing.

Dear trickortreatex author,

Trick or Treat! Thank you so much for writing something for me! And happy fall season/Halloween.

This exchange is my first that I can remember when I have not requested any live-action fandoms. This is not pertinent information but mundane trivia about me. It does tell you, however, that I'm mixing up my world a little in this particular exchange, which is exciting.

Because of the trick or treat gift nature of this exchange, I'll try to be a little more specific about my "Do Not Wants"/Dislikes than I usually am, but these guidelines are for our mutual comfort. If you choose to do a 'trick' gift, then as long as you stay somewhere within those guidelines, feel free to go nuts! I'm less picky about any type of "Do Not Wants"/Dislikes for any 'treat' fic I might receive, but in either case I want to avoid those guidelines feeling super restrictive to your creative process.

For some of the fandoms I have requested, I requested "Any" nominated characters and for others I was more specific. If you matched with me on one of the fandoms where I chose specific characters rather than "Any," please don't feel concerned about any disparity in the relative prompt lengths. I just have tried to cover my bases with all my requested characters. I list each fandom as it is listed on AO3 so you can CTRL+F if it helps you to find what you're looking for!

* * *

Dislikes (or Do Not Wants): character bashing towards anybody, graphic depictions of rape / rape as plot device, gore, torture, mutilation, breathplay, bloodplay, nihilism, hopeless endings (but sad is okay)

This stock list basically covers everything I don't want in a fic. However, I am perfectly fine with dark themes that may crop up in a 'trick' fic and would be excited to read them. Concerning 'gore' I felt that I should clarify - blood and violence are fine. What I don't want is torture or mutilation. If for some reason your story needs truly horrific violence, I'd prefer the rated-PG-13/R version to the NC-17 version, if that makes sense. 'Torture' includes psychological torture, too. I'm definitely interested in your dark fic if that's what you'd like to write, but the above are some basic guidelines that I thank you for considering.

Likes: domesticity / slice of life, missing scenes, character study, action / adventure, traveling / vacations, hurt / comfort, partnership, healthy polyamory, found family, constructive confrontation, realistic use of social media where appropriate / epistolary fiction, canon typical violence, post-/pre-canon, arc-alteration / fix-fic, political machinations and intrigue, arranged or ritual marriage tropes, loss and recovery, rescue, time travel/loops, monsters and folklore

For any and all of the prompts and suggestions provided below, please take them with a grain of salt. I am perfectly happy with receiving gen or ship fic! I love character development and relationships, but if you prefer to focus on worldbuilding or action/adventure, feel free to do those things with a specific character or characters. I will list some ships or general relationships that specifically interest me for each fandom, where clarification might be applicable. I will mark things I ship with ( / ) and general relationships that interest me with ( & ). With these, feel free to write gen/friendship/general relationship fic about any that are marked with /, but please do not write romantically shippy fic about any marked with only & even though I'd love to receive fic about their relationship. Of course, if you only want to write about one character or about interaction between any of the applicable characters, then I'd be happy to see that, too.

Also, if you feel like including any other characters from a given canon that I have not requested or which are not nominated just in the course of your story, then that is fine with me too. Whatever makes what you'd like to write work!

If you would like to check out my fic or online presence to gauge who I am and what I like beyond this wall of text, please see:

Dear everywoman author,

Thank you so much for writing something for me! I'm excited to be a part of this exchange, and I look forward to seeing whatever you choose to write! I will include some general likes and dislikes and then some fandom-specific prompts. On the subject of prompt length: for one of the fandoms I chose 'Any Character' which will probably lead to that particular fandom's prompt section of this letter being longer just to cover all the possible characters you might want to write. If we match on or you choose a different fandom, please don't see any length disparity cause by this as a lack of interest! I'm just trying to give similar amounts of detail for each possible character.

I'm comfortable receiving fic of basically any rating. Some of my fandoms involve underage characters and I have no desire to read sexual content above PG-13ish implications with people who are underage. I would be equally happy with shippy or gen/friendship/even enemy-reflection fic. Any combination of requested, eligible, or secondary characters from any of these fandoms are welcome to be included.

Please see my prompts as guidelines, and if you're inspired to write something that isn't directly covered in one of my prompts, feel free to deviate as you wish. I really don't mind as long as it doesn't focus on one of my dislikes.

Likes: domesticity / slice of life, missing scenes, character study, action / adventure, traveling / vacations, hurt / comfort, partnership, constructive confrontation, realistic use of social media where appropriate / epistolary fiction, canon typical violence, post-/pre-canon, arc-alteration / fix-fic

In case it is relevant, I would be happy with any crossover or fusion fic that you happen to come up with for this particular exchange, but it is not a specific request.

Dislikes: character bashing towards anybody, graphic depictions of rape / rape as plot device, gore, breathplay, bloodplay, nihilism, hopeless endings (but sad is okay)

Dear NPTimer,

Thank you so much for writing something for me! No matter which fandom we matched on, I am very excited to see what you come up with. As for prompt length, I think there might be some disparity this year, but that's because I chose "Any" on a fandom and chose specific characters on others and want to provide adequate prompting for both! So if the prompt for the fandom you wish to write is shorter than others, please absolutely know that I want it just as much. For any of the fandoms, other nominated characters I didn't request or other characters from that universe as you deem appropriate are welcome to appear if it adds to the story you'd like to tell. I will include a list of some general likes and dislikes, then the fandom-specific prompts. I am comfortable with all ratings, but I would like to not receive inappropriately explicit fics about underage characters - implication of whatever is fine, but if characters are underage in the fic then keep it teen-rating friendly. Otherwise, explicit is fine if you feel compelled! All my fandom-specific prompts are suggestions. If you have an idea that you're concerned doesn't fit one of them, go ahead! I look forward to seeing the story you felt most passionate about telling.

Likes: domesticity / slice of life, missing scenes, character study, action / adventure, traveling / vacations, hurt / comfort, partnership, constructive confrontation, realistic use of social media where appropriate / epistolary fiction, canon typical violence, post-/pre-canon, arc-alteration / fix-fic

Also, for these three specific fandoms I have requested, I would completely welcome crossovers between any combination of them if you feel so inclined.

Dislikes: character bashing towards anybody, graphic depictions of rape / rape as plot device, gore, breathplay, bloodplay, nihilism, hopeless endings (but sad is okay)

Dear Rare ShipSwap author,

Thank you so much for writing something for me! Whatever we matched on, I'm so glad someone else likes the things I do and is willing to write for me. First and foremost, have fun with what you write! I know waiting for a good opportunity to write about rarer ships can leave you with a backlog of ideas, so write what you are most passionate about and see my requests and prompts as guidelines and suggestions. Modify them as you see fit, bearing in mind the couple of things I don't want, etc. I'm sure I'll be thrilled with whatever I receive.

Likes: domesticity / slice of life, missing scenes, character study, action / adventure, traveling / vacations, hurt / comfort, partnership, constructive confrontation, realistic use of social media where appropriate / epistolary fiction, canon typical violence

Special Note: I've requested a lot of three-person pairings, so just to clarify - I like stories where everyone is mutually invested and interested in each other. I'm not really interested in love triangles or begrudging acceptance being endgame, if that makes sense. The situation can be as rocky as you want, but I'd like some kind of resolution of anything like that.

Dislikes: character bashing towards anybody, graphic depictions of rape / rape as plot device, gore, breathplay, bloodplay, nihilism, hopeless endings (but sad is okay)

Dear Yuletide Author:

Thank you for writing for me! I am very excited to see what you come up with, and happy holiday season whatever you do or don't celebrate!

Following will be, in order: general likes, important dislikes, then some suggested prompts for each fandom I requested. After the first bit, if you like you can ctrl+f to find the fandom you want to write for me if it's too long to scroll - I have trouble with being concise, but we'll see how this goes. Remember that optional details are optional, so as long as I haven't specifically asked that you not do something, if you have a better idea or something you feel more passionate about writing, go for it. I want to see what you're excited about! That way we'll both have the most fun.

Likes: domesticity / slice of life / everyday problems, missing scenes, character study, canon-divergent what-if AUs*, action/adventure, traveling/vacations, hurt/comfort, partnership, constructive confrontation (fighting things out to positive result), realistic use of social media where appropriate

With regard to shipping, I'm okay with it happening at any point. Unresolved tension before a relationship, something that happens during one, relationship problems being faced, sexual stuff or no sexual stuff. If you choose to do sexual stuff, I don't mind how kinky it is - so long as it's safe/sane/consensual. I am also completely happy with gen / family fic.

Also, feel free to use any and all characters from my requested fandoms in addition to my requested characters as you see fit.

* About AUs: I am not usually interested in transplant whole cast into completely unrelated set of circumstances AUs (e.g., coffee shop AU). However, that doesn't mean I'm completely closed off to them. If you really want to write that go ahead, but I prefer it when certain things about the situation remain the same. Like, for example, the characters are in school or the characters are in a different time period but those with powers still have powers. The kinds of AUs I like the most, however, are "what if" AUs that spin directly from canon. "What if Character A and Character B swapped roles?" "What if Character A hadn't been in this Place on this Day?" And fix-it fics and that kind of thing. I'm open-minded, but those are just my feelings on it.

Important dislikes: character bashing (even if problems exist between characters - which is fine - I don't enjoy character bashing of anyone), graphic depictions of rape / rape as plot device, gratuitous violence (though canon typical violence is great/just fine), bloodplay, breathplay, nihilism, hopeless endings (but sad ones are okay)

Thank you so much for writing something for me (AO3: failsafe)!

My likes and dislikes are basically the same for every exchange, but I'll list them here.

Likes: Domesticity/slice of life/dealing with everyday issues and problems, character study, missing scenes, thoughtful alternate realities/what-if/canon-divergence AUs, UST/pre-relationship tension, action/adventure, traveling/vacation, hurt/comfort, partnerships, constructive confrontation with positive resolution (let them fight about something that needs to be addressed and then let them resolve any hurt feelings, that sort of thing), tasteful erotica if you like (kinky or vanilla), cuddling, pillow talk, realistic use of social media where applicable/appropriate, banter

Important dislikes: character bashing (even when a fic explores, for example, why Ship A is working but Ship B is not/did not, I don't want other-character from Ship B to be defamed unnecessarily), graphic depictions of rape/irresponsible narrative handling of rape, gratuitous violence (though any kind of violence is fine if it is contextually appropriate), bloodplay, breathplay, nihilism, hopeless endings (but sad ones are okay)

You can see my tumblr for more stuff about me, but only if you want.

Here are some specific prompting thoughts about each of my requests (you can ctrl+f for the fandom you matched on/are looking for!):

Captain America (Movies)

Request #1:
Characters: Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanoff

I would be very happy with either shipping-fic or with gen/friendship fic about them. I am really enthusiastic about both interpretations of this relationship.

I really enjoyed that it was suggested that they had social contact of some kind or another prior to The Winter Soldier, and I would love to see pre-movie elaboration on that. Anything that takes place in the time between Avengers and TWS might be fun!

A run-in on the search for Bucky, too, might be fun. I honestly have very little knowledge of the comics in this particular area, but I know that Bucky and Natasha have a pretty important relationship int hem that seems to have been foregone in adaptation. If you happen to be someone who enjoys that and would like to amalgamate the two, you absolutely may.

I also like Steve/Natasha/Sam as a team dynamic and/or an OT3, if that kind of thing interests you.

Request #2:
Any Character(s)

Just a note: I would prefer not to have explicitly romantic/shippy fic about Steve/Sharon or Steve/Bucky--that said, including relationships between them is A-OK!

I put in this extra request not only because of the above mention that I also like the notion of Steve/Sam/Natasha but because I would love to receive basically any character study fic or gen-relationship fic for any of the nominated characters.

Perhaps something about Natasha and Fury's relationship, how he seems to trust her so much and how it affects her when he doesn't.

Sharon's relationship with Peggy. Or anything. Anyone. I just want her to have a full presence and life.

You can also do any and all Steve/Peggy stuff or Peggy's relationships with others at literally any point in her life.

Steve/Sam on its own is also good. Gen or shippy, again. Part of their search for Bucky or some kind of domestic, social thing in the future. It strikes me, how lucky Steve was to meet Sam the morning he did.

I have also really enjoyed Maria Hill's character development after initially having an impression that I wouldn't like her, so I would enjoy maybe something about her between her two film appearances so far.

And I would really, really enjoy some Bucky hurt/comfort. I would especially appreciate it if it sensitively handled his rehabilitation. Steve (and others) being patient with him and trying to help him remember how to be human would be very satisfying.

It might also be fun to read a slice of life fic for Sam before he met Steve, working as a counselor at the VA and just doing something in general in a world where aliens attacked New York.

I'm really flexible about this--just anything that strikes your fancy about ANY of these characters with the couple of limits above.

Pretty Little Liars

Request #3:
Characters: Spencer Hastings, Aria Montgomery

I have been dying to read a thoughtful bit of fic about them. I have started to ship them a lot over time, but I also just have been really impressed upon occasional rewatches of earlier episode how little I took for granted their connection upon my first watch. I love that they both have similar skills but that their personalities manifest so differently, and I am actually in the process of finishing the most recent episodes and Spencer's voicemail that she was going to leave for Aria but then let erase when she ran out of time completely gutted me emotionally.

It doesn't have to be romantic (and if you prefer for it not to be, I am completely fine with exploration of either of them's canon romantic interests!), but I very much want something that involves their friendship and protecting each other. Something dangerous, something fun--both. Anything!

Hawkeye (Comics)

Request #4
Characters: Kate Bishop, Clint Barton

I should note that I am behind and at the time of writing this letter have not read past when Kate came to pick Lucky up to go on their trip to California. I plan to have caught up by the time this exchange happens, but just wanted to let any potential writer know!

That said, I have been dying to read something more about the fact that Kate and Clint's relationship is complicated and gray at the best they can do. I am open on the subject of whether or not it is shippy because I myself feel so conflicted and undecided. But give me something that doesn't necessarily draw punches about how Clint's a car crash and Kate is perfect. How they are breaking one another's strides and how they still have something deeply connected between them. I'd be really happy with something that talked about the age difference as the writer perceives not just in terms of taboo but in how it affects their relationship even though both of them maybe like to pretend it doesn't.

Chuck

Request #5
Characters: Chuck Bartowski, Sarah Walker, John Casey

Getting into Chuck has been relatively recent for me and so I am still watching S1. I don't want to put too much pressure on myself, but feel free to use references up through the conclusion of S2 to give you some wiggle room.

I absolutely love the three-person dynamic between the three of them and would love anything about it, honestly.

Chuck and Sarah both get POV scenes a lot, but we very rarely have gotten one from Casey so far. And yet, it's obvious to me that he has been growing to care not only about Chuck but about Sarah, too. He looks after them, and it really does seem genuinely heroic in a surprising way. Something from his POV about both or either of them that tracked his progression of caring for them would be really interesting.

Sarah's relationship with Bryce seems to me to be one where he really takes advantage of her affections for him while sort of twisting things so it seems like it's more reciprocal than it is. I am not going to judge whether he does that on purpose or not, but in Sarah's trusting other people she works with and cares for, more dealing with that kind of baggage carefully and in a way that helps her without just brushing it aside would warm my heart.

I love Chuck's relationship with his family, too. Anything about that would be fun and nice!

I am still a baby Chuck fan, but I really like it.

Torchwood

Request #6
Characters: Jack Harkness, Martha Jones

I was always disappointed that Martha did not actually come back to Torchwood after her guest appearance. I understand real world reasoning for why she did not, but I would have loved to get the opportunity to see her interact with Jack more. I really liked their bond formed through their shared devotion to the Doctor that doesn't seem to just revolve around a sense of rejection.

As mentioned in my dislikes, I don't like unrelentingly sad or hopeless endings, so there is a part of me that wants to look at a Torchwood story and see it as less deeply dark.

I do ship Jack/Martha if it's even possible that anyone else does, but I would also enjoy their being friends--even years later--happier than Torchwood generally affords people being. They can pay a cost, but sometimes I think Torchwood required costs that were too high.

Thank you so much for the fic and good luck!

Thank you for writing something for me! My likes and dislikes are sort of a form letter at this point, available on past letters for other exchanges, but I will include them here.

Likes: Domesticity/slice of life/dealing with everyday issues and problems, character study, thoughtful alternate realities/what-if/canon-divergence AUs, UST/pre-relationship tension, action/adventure, traveling/vacation, hurt/comfort, partnerships, constructive confrontation with positive resolution (let them fight about something that needs to be addressed and then let them resolve any hurt feelings, that sort of thing), tasteful erotica if you like (kinky or vanilla), cuddling, pillow talk, realistic use of social media where applicable/appropriate, banter

Specific prompts for characters/fandoms follow. Please take any prompts as simple guidelines. Write what inspires you. If you offered the character I'm going to trust you have something you probably want to write for them. If that doesn't quite mesh with precisely what you think I'm asking for, then please go after what you feel most comfortable writing.

Doctor Who

Lucy Saxon: I was extremely unsatisfied by her character's conclusion. It just felt like a sort of hand-wave, better-hurry-up-and-tie-off-this-loose-end thing more than anything that needed to happen at all. Basically, my perception of Lucy was that she was meant to be the Master's version of a companion. He was essentially showing the Doctor sort of "what he'd broken," by only giving him (the Master) the opportunity to show her the end of everything. As you can see up in my dislikes, I absolutely cannot stand things that feel nihilistic. Basically, I just want something to give Lucy an opportunity to see something beautiful and something meaningful.

With Lucy in particular, I don't mind the inclusion of some themes of abuse or an unhealthy relationship. I personally think that her relationship with the Master involved some mutual caring about one another, but then it's also clear that the Master eventually began to abuse her. If you want to deal with this in some way--either its aftermath or some kind of healing from it or even write during her relationship with the Master with the caveat that something gets better for her, I don't mind!

Or, it could be an alternative version of something that happens to her after she shoots him.

Just... something better than canon conclusion, please?

Chantho: ... Well, apparently I have a theme, oops. I just want something where Chantho perhaps survives? Either to be involved in the finale events of S3 in some way (since again I think she represents a sort of analog to companions in that the Master has some aspects of his personality that negatively reflect the Doctor's). Or maybe she just is somehow not-dead and finds some kind of silver lining at the end of the universe. Basically, she was just so happy and adorable and I want to see her given some kind of chance.

Also, if you like world-building, her species is given a few defining traits but not too many, so expanding upon that would be nice!

Jenny Flint: I think there might be some explanation sort of floating around about how Jenny became this awesome martial artist superhero who can pick locks at such a young age. But I guess just seeing that sort of interpreted by someone would be really fun! I also would love to see a human point of view on being in a relationship with someone like Vastra who is so different in terms of being a different species that doesn't just boil down to a kinky sex joke. There is the fact that Vastra also has a big age gap with her, and just seeing how Jenny feels being a Victorian young woman who is seemingly so ill-suited to her time but finds a niche anyway.

Being a detective with her wife? (I could even get into a sappy, plotless marriage story about Vastra and Jenny. Cultural customs they both wanted to include? Where? How? When did they get married? Or did they just decide they already were?) Dealing with Strax being an irritant? Somehow being towed along into the future with the Doctor and friend? Anything!

I also just have this thing about how we so rarely get to see noncomtemporaneous people travel with the Doctor. Almost all the companions who actually get to stay are from the 21st century, so. Jenny.

Life On Mars

Note: I haven't finished Ashes to Ashes but I'm aware of what the ending of that implies about this series. I personally don't tend to factor that into my headcanon, but if you want to for the sake of a story, I don't mind!

Annie Cartwright: Because Sam is the focal character of the story and the audience sees through his eyes, I am often left to wonder how Annie feels about befriending/falling in love with someone who seems so fundamentally out of water and askew to the entire world that you know. It doesn't have to focus on Sam/Annie as a shippy thing, though I certainly wouldn't mind if it did. But just... how does it affect her life? How does she feel about it?

Pre-canon or post-canon are good, too! Something about Annie being in school or something about what she decides to do after canon would be nice, also. (I do like Sam/Annie so I'd prefer not to have them "breaking up" or something, but it definitely doesn't have to focus solely on her relationship with Sam. Like I said, up to the author! I just want Annie's distinct point of view on something she deems important in her life.)

Skins (UK)

Katie Fitch: There are a lot of possibilities for Katie and I feel like that of all of them we know the least about where her life was going at the end of her generation's run. I have seen Skins:Fire and it is up to author's discretion as to whether or not to include that in consideration, regardless of when you set your fic.

I would love to have some further exploration of who Katie becomes as a young adult. If you're in the mood to write femslash, I also wouldn't mind a story about her aversion to Emily's orientation perhaps being some insecurity about her own?

May or may not be related to the above, but I also really liked the development of Katie and Effy's relationship towards the end of S4 and was sad that it didn't come up in Fire. It felt more logical to me that Katie and Effy would've ended up best friends (or something). Then they also would have suffered loss, I think, when they found out what happened to Freddy?

You absolutely don't have to include Effy, though. Just Katie setting out into her own life once they all disperse later and having some kind of experience of adulthood and figuring out what to do about it. Bonding with her sister. Missing her sister. Anything! I just really loved Katie--she grew up so much.

Clueless

Cher Horowitz: I love this movie more now that I'm an adult than I ever did as a teenager. I think that Cher is really fun as a character because she is shown to speak with common slang of her generation and with the verbal fry/dialect that might pigeon-hole her as vapid. But then, it's shown that even though she speaks this way, she does have an intuitive grasp of what is going on in the world and with people around her, especially once she is inspired to apply herself. I would love to see how this developed with time in her life--if it ever caused her further problems and how she might overcome them.

(I also think that Cher/Josh is really cute and so any content that included that would be much appreciated. Also, the taboo that she ended up with her step-brother coming up would be interesting since the movie really didn't address that?)

Thank you for writing a fic for me! Below I have given my usual list of likes and dislikes that are just general guidelines. I'm really flexible about pretty much everything, though. Following the general likes/dislikes, I will provide some fandom-specific prompts, but please write what you feel most inspired to do eve if it deviates entirely from my prompts. I will be most excited to see what you are most enthusiastic to offer rather than a prescriptive filling of a prompt. Be sure you have fun!

Unless otherwise noted, any of the nominated (or un-nominated) characters in a fandom making appearances in your fic based on my requested character(s) is fine with me and certainly encouraged if it contributes to your idea!

General likes: Domesticity within the context of the universes where characters exist, character study, thoughtful alternate realities/what-if/canon-divergence AUs, UST/pre-relationship tension, action/adventure, traveling/vacation, hurt/comfort, partnerships, constructive confrontation with positive resolution (let them fight about something that needs to be addressed and then let them resolve any hurt feelings, that sort of thing), exploration of superpowers were applicable (even if they are not the character's own), tasteful erotica if you like (kinky or vanilla), cuddling, pillow talk, realistic use of social media where applicable/appropriate, banter, polyamory (and any other orientation/relationship dynamic, just I wanted to include polyamory)

Important dislikes: character bashing (even when a fic explores, for example, why Ship A is working but Ship B is not/did not, I don't want other-character from Ship B to be defamed unnecessarily), characters being thanked for being patronizing, graphic depictions of rape/irresponsible narrative handling of rape, gratuitous violence (though any kind of violence is fine if it is contextually appropriate), bloodplay, breathplay, nihilism, hopeless endings (but sad ones are okay)

The Great Gatsby (2013)

Characters:
Nick Carraway
Jay Gatsby

I haven't read The Great Gatsby since high school, but this movie made me really excited about the presentation of the spirit of the story in a way that managed to both be a period piece and to relate the story to audiences of the present era. Because of this, if AUs are your thing, in this fandom I am okay with a modern AU if you can find a way to engage with the essences of the character(s) that way.

Note: While I have requested both Nick and Gatsby, if you want to be post-canon compliant, it is okay if Gatsby is not presently alive in your narrative, depending on what you try to do with it.

A few prompts:

1. In the film adaptation, the interpretation that Nick fell in love with Gatsby read really strongly to me. I would absolutely love a fic that related this in some way. My happy-optimistic prompt would be a post-film AU where Gatsby somehow survived and received Nick's phone call rather than Daisy's, perhaps both further shattering Gatsby's dreamworld and being the impetus of something new. The media circus could still be present but perhaps be centered around scandal that didn't involve Gatsby's murder. Fallout with his bootlegging partners? Anything you would want to do with Gatsby having survived and Nick continuing to be a part of his life in a capacity that is either one-sided love on Nick's part or develops into something more. It can be as plotty or character study-y as you want, so don't let the density of this request be intimidating. If you want to take something from this and prefer to make the connection Nick has to Gatsby be more purely platonic as is the traditional reading of said relationship, feel free!

2. A further character study about Nick after Gatsby's death would also be good if you prefer staying canon compliant!

3. If you have a strong Gatsby muse and would like to write about him post-film and would like to explore reversal, then maybe Nick didn't go to work that day and chose a different path and in some way sacrificed himself for Gatsby. How would Gatsby react to that emotionally or otherwise?

4. The above-mentioned modern!AU idea is also fine with me. I would prefer it, if you choose this, if you find a way to engage similar themes even if in a different setting--just enough to keep the spirit of the characters recognizable, but I trust you!

If Daisy or any other characters want to make an appearance in your story then that's fine with me!

Young Avengers

Characters:
Tommy Shepherd
Eli Bradley
Kate Bishop

Please note that I was very tempted to choose 'Any' but decided to make it a little more clear by requesting specific characters that I have a vested interest in the inner-workings of. However, while I would most prefer fics that center on any or all of the characters I chose, any of the characters who are in the series, especially those nominated but any of the others who might make appearance, are welcome, too!

Shipping preferences:
  • [OT3] Tommy/Kate/Eli
  • Tommy/Eli
  • Tommy/Kate
  • Billy/Teddy

However, if your shipping preferences go another direction that's fine with me. I am so somewhat interested in Tommy/David and Kate/Eli. Kate/Eli with the caveat that Tommy isn't emotionally left out in the cold/alone because in my opinion he really needs one or both of them (or David, or someone). Despite this babbling about Tommy's emotional welfare, please don't feel obligated to write about him. I am equally interested in the others.

Some prompts:

1. Some genfic set during the Volume 1 era would be great! (Cassie being alive, etc.) Genfic set during the Volume 2 era which either expands upon or moves beyond the pancakes would also be very nice. Kate having Tommy and/or Eli back around is optional or Tommy and/or Eli being the focal point of some gen fic at some point is great, too.

2. From the way Tommy referred to Eli's grandmother (Mrs. B) in #6 of the new run, it leads me to believe that perhaps Tommy and Eli have had some continued contact after Eli's leaving (and apparently returning) to New York. What were the circumstances of that and how does their dynamic stand now? What if they had been hanging around together more closely such that it affected a change on the outcome or circumstances of #6? (Any or all of these questions and shippy or gen is fine!)

3. Teddy and Tommy platonic/brother-in-law-like interaction! (Billy or others can come too if appropriate.) If this dealt with Teddy and Billy taking a break it would be interesting, but at any other point in canon (or in some alternate timeline of your choosing) is good, too.

4. I was really kind of alarmed by the fact that Kate didn't have any visible emotional response to finding out about Tommy's disappearance. Whether you ship them or not, they were friends and Kate actively cared about him even if she had ultimately chosen not to actually follow any sort of fancy regarding him. The Young Avengers were like a family. Some kind of elaboration upon this--an opportunity for her to react or some character study about why she doesn't or something along those lines would be quite satisfying to me.

5. Something about Eli in his capacity as a library worker at any point during canon. Eli finding out about someone or something masquerading around in his costume? Finding out about Tommy being missing? Deciding to do something about it the way only Eli can. Reasons Eli chooses not to do anything, again. Just anything about Eli, please.

Long list of prompts but if you have an entirely different idea (even one that focuses slightly less on these specific characters but which heavily involves them) then go for it!

Lilo & Stitch:

Character:
Stitch (Experiment 626)

I am actually startled that there is anyone in the world besides me who has considered the idea of Lilo & Stitch fic as a possibility and I'm excited! My favorite Disney movie ever, and I'd love to have some extra-canon stuff beyond the cartoon which didn't really ever touch upon what I would have liked for it to.

Please note: Stitch is one of the few characters I have ever preferred to not know anything about his sexual preferences. I tend to view him as an asexual creature as he is the only one of his species according to the movie. If he's not asexual I don't mind, I just do not want any Stitch porn, please and thank you.

I shipped David/Nani passionately the summer this came out so any shippy content with them is totally acceptable.

A couple of prompts:

1. Anything about Stitch adapting to Earth in his early stay, perhaps involving their visit to the continental US (to see Graceland and possibly some other things?). I love fish out of water stories, and even though Stitch is vastly intelligent, seeing him have to learn from experience with things is absolutely heartwarming and I am going to end this sentence before I keyboard smash emotionally.

2. With the above caveat about not wanting Stitch porn, given that he is technically the only member of his species and has those malleable legs and antennae and such, I have in the past considered whether or not Stitch really is a gendered or sexed creature. I and the film refer to him as a 'he' but is that just because he's blue and we associate blue with masculinity? Basically this comes down to "why would aliens use our gender binary?" which is a good question. If you want to do something kind of philosophical or self-searching about Stitch dealing with this kind of issue when faced with a highly gendered society and coming to understand the concept as he continues to live here, I think it could be really neat.

3. Stitch bonding with any of his family members (of course including Lilo)! I would be especially interested in his bonding with David since Stitch had the misconception that David was blaming him for everything falling apart at one point. Also David really bit off a lot more than he had bargained for with entering a relationship with a girl who not only has her little sister but several aliens in her family now. Basically just how the two of them deal with each other would be good. Or Stitch bonding in a positive way with his creator and feeling better about his existence in general in a more concrete way that holds up when he's being still at night and such. Or anything with any of his ohana.

Skins (UK)

Characters:
Effy Stonem
Tony Stonem

Anything post-Skins Fire is acceptable because I have seen it. However, if you prefer to only deal with the relevant actual-series of Skins for these characters then that's fine, too.

1. If post-Skins Fire, I would like to know where Tony was during all of this and if he finds out about what has happened in his sister's life. If he finds out while it is going on, does he show up to support her? How so? If he doesn't, does he see her after she has served time for her financial crimes?

2. How does Effy cope with what has happened to her post-Fire? I would like to know more about what is actually possibly behind that enigmatic smile.

3. Effy and Emily seeing each other again either after Skins Fire or in an AU where that didn't happen and just seeing each other as young adults. Could be shippy if you want but also just Emily no longer being a doormat and she and Effy doing something (I don't mind what) would be nice.

4. It's no big secret but perhaps a bit sensitive, so please do not feel obligated to do anything with it. However if you have a muse for it, I would love a Tony/Effy shippy fic. I would like for it to have a bit of a plot at least rather than just porn if you want to do it, but I just always thought their bond was a bit interesting and odd. While I am perfectly happy with an innocent and normal sibling relationship between them, given both their backgrounds I kind of wonder if it couldn't be interpreted as something altogether more complicated. What that might be, however, I leave up to you. (Please no non-con, as I might refer you back to my dislikes list.

5. What did Effy do when she found out the truth about what had happened to Freddie? (Can involve anyone or just Effy herself.)

--

Wreck It Ralph

Characters:
Vanellope von Schweetz
Wreck It Ralph

Please give me gen, friendly/family fic between Ralph and Vanellope. Shipping them is a bit much for me. However if you want to let Felix and Calhoun be present and shippy then that's fine if it pleases you.

1. Given that I assume videogame characters don't age without avatar redesign or it being a part of their game, what happens as Vanellope continues to mature in terms of her experience? If she's trapped being a child avatar forever but interacts with characters outside her game (after having not been able to for a long time), I wonder how this might affect her.

2. What if there was a game redesign later on and Vanellope and her fellow Sugar Rush characters were given more teenage avatars to appeal to a new demographic? How would she adapt to this? Would Ralph react to suddenly having an adorably exasperating teenager to deal with rather than an adorably exasperating little girl? If this happened might Vanellope have kind of mixed up memories while retaining the core of her character? If you want to go that route, Ralph helping her through that would be really sweet!

3. What happens if Ralph decides to make a more adult decision in his life now that he has found some success? What if he falls in love with someone, etc.? Some kind of life-stage change for Ralph and his trying to explain that to Vanellope or dealing with her response to it might be something really fun character-wise.

4. Just Vanellope and Ralph hanging out and doing something in another videogame or in the videogame-based domestic environments would be sweet. For example, what if Vanellope ends up in Tappers? Is she allowed there?
