[comm] dear yuletide author:
Dear Yuletide Author,
Another year has come and gone, and it's time for Yuletide again. Thank you for writing something for me in whatever small niche we have in common. I am
failsafe and if you are interested in seeing both my work and past gifts I've requested, go for it. My prompts are, as always, suggestions except for the DNWs. If you have something else in mind entirely, please write the story that you feel passionate about writing within the fandom(s) and character(s) we matched on.
Likes: canon-typical violence, missing scenes, UST, emotional ambiguity, found families, developing or established relationships, time travel, pre-canon, post-canon, bedsharing, loyalty, worldbuilding, epistolary/journal/log fiction, monster-of-the-week / slice of ordinary life adventures, earned second chances, dealing with consequences, "what if" / canon divergent AUs, earned happy endings, holidays, casefic, groundhog day trope, mysteries, healing, survival (wilderness, zombie apocalypse, etc.), last stands, trying against impossible odds, succeeding against impossible odds, heartfelt goodbyes, unexpected reunions, foils
Dislikes: character bashing towards anybody, noncon, explicit gore, breathplay, serious or permanent injury related to sexuality, nihilism, hopeless endings (but sad is okay)
I am comfortable with all ratings from gen to explicit ship-fic. However, if you are writing a fic which contains sexuality of someone under the age of 18, please cap it at PG-13/fade-to-black, etc.
Now for specific prompts:
Jurassic Park
Requested Characters: 0/Any. I am requesting any of the nominated characters (Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, Ian Malcolm) either as individuals, a pairing, or a polyamorous threesome. If you choose to do a pairing alone, please do not disparage or bash the character who's left out in any way, with or without a breakup.
Prompts:
- I would love a fic about how their lives after their time on the island changed and how they responded to the reverse culture shock of normal life. I'd love to have anything about their involvement in academia in a fic. Reverse culture shock would be an interesting topic.
- Wilderness survival and sharing resources either within the context of the film or in a canon-divergent AU.
Wonder Woman
Requested Characters: Diana Prince, Steve Trevor. I really enjoyed their fish-out-of-water chemistry together. I also enjoyed that, within the confines of a two hour film, they were friends-first even if there was an undercurrent of attraction. I would be equally happy with ship-fic or with fic that focused primarily on their foundation of friendship. Any other nominated characters and other characters from the film or cinematic universe are welcome to come along. I would also be content with a fic that was about a time before one of them met the other, giving some more background to either of them.
Prompts:
- As mentioned above, a fic about their backgrounds before they met each other. Could be about one of the characters individually or them sharing anecdotes from their pasts together.
- First time being intimate, in the cut-away scene in the film or otherwise. Ritual marriage, ancient Greek practice made them do it, etc.
- Fix-fic where Steve doesn't die but at a cost. Could be a bittersweet, plotty fic if you wanted.
Push
Requested Characters: Cassie Holmes, Nick Gant. I am mostly looking for a fic that would include both of them, but if you want to write a fic that focuses on one of them while they are separated by plot circumstances I would also be okay with that. A focus on their dynamic and relationship would be preferable to me, though.
Prompts:
- Over the years since I saw this movie, I went from being a teenager myself to being an adult. Therefore, shipping Nick and Cassie has become more and more complicated for me as time has gone on. However, I can't deny that I still do, particularly from Cassie's point of view. I would like to have a fic about messy intimacy that ultimately turns out okay in the end. Whether it's a one-sided infatuation on Cassie's part in a platonically intimate relationship or if temptation is yielded to at an inopportune time, I'd like for it to be dealt with for the mess that it could be. However, I would like them to still love each other, and I don't need explicit underage porn.
- If you don't want to go into the deep and dark that might come with the above, I could also be happy with some bittersweet fluff where Cassie confesses Feelings and Nick has no idea what to do.
- Shippy prophecy.
Hancock
Requested Characters: 0/Any. I am requesting any of the nominated characters (John Hancock, Mary Embrey, Ray Embrey) either as individuals, a pairing, or a polyamorous threesome. If you choose to do a pairing alone, please do not disparage or bash the character who's left out in any way, with or without a breakup. I'd also prefer Ray not get left; I'd honestly prefer he die a hero.
Prompts:
- Worldbuilding. I can be content either way with worldbuilding that involves the characters themselves doing some investigation (maybe Ray really wants to understand what in the world he's stumbled into in his family) or in a fic that doesn't so much focus on the characters we have in canon. I just feel like the explanation for what John and Mary are is so fascinating and so wasted if they are truly the only ones. Even if they're the only ones left, what happened? What were past stories? And what would happen if it turned out they weren't the only ones left?
- Mundane life training for John. Enforced belonging to a family, etc.
