Dear Black Emporium Author:
Dear Black Emporium Author,
Thank you in advance for writing something for me. I am very new to this fandom, but I don't mind spoilers for games I haven't yet played. I know a lot from listening to my best friend talk about it. At present, however, I have only played Dragon Age: Origins, so my requests and focus in the fandom is on that game and its characters.
This Dreamwidth account has become a repository for Dear Author letters. If you would like to learn more about me through consensual digital stalking, you may look at my actual personal dreamwidth account

General Preferences.
Medium.
I have requested fanfic, but if people do treats for this exchange (I didn't see an FAQ or anything mentioning it) then I welcome fanart as a treat!
Ratings.
Any rating is fine! I enjoy Gen/PG fics that focus on relationship building, fluff, or found family dynamics. I'm also happy to receive fics that are more on the Explicit side of things if you want to write that! In that case, feel free to give me lots of detail, fade-to-black, or anything in between.

First and foremost, I want fic that feels in-character. I want any kinks included to be something that the characters in question want to do (bearing in mind DNWs). Vanilla sex is fine! Or kinks that are poorly-veiled coping mechanisms can show up. The amount of negotiation or how well it goes can vary depending on the characters, the point in their relationship, and any other factor that would impact them. It can be their first time together or at all. It can be established-relationship sex. It can be planned or spontaneous. It can be awkward or smooth and sensual or anything in-between.
Even if your fic is primarily about the sexy part, I would like a smattering of context. More than anything, I want it to feel like it happens between people, not ad-lib erotica.
Prompts.
About the Warden: In the cases where I have asked for Female Cousland, feel free to take the route of using the default name (Elissa Cousland), your own version's name, or my Warden's name. My Warden is named Rosamunde, and for my own reference or anyone who needs it, I have prepared a profile here.
Alistair/Female Cousland/Morrigan
The Warden needs a family, and I like the idea of the "original three" being linked forever. The hilarious level of vitriol that exists between Morrigan and Alistair is great fun to me. I cannot imagine that either of them would deign to become acquaintances or friends, let alone lovers, had their allegiance to the Warden (which is itself quite different from the other's) not facilitated it. I would love to see how the three of them have a relationship chemistry that could eventually form into something where they all love and need each other in their own ways.
- An organically developing polyamorous relationship where the Warden acts as a mediator between Alistair and Morrigan in a way that does more than just soften their vitriol. Simply them working together, bantering, and bonding would be great. How does Alistair handle the idea that he might have not one but two women? I would also love to see Morrigan getting care from other people that she isn't sure how to handle but desperately needs.
- Alistair and the Warden are in a relationship when Morrigan suggests the ritual that will allow both of them to survive the final battle. In order to mitigate the discomfort Alistair must surely feel with this situation, the Warden opts to participate.
- Alternatively, Alistair and the Warden have fallen in love quietly but have never managed to get to the point where they have consummated their relationship physically before Morrigan informs them of the possibility of this ritual. Both virgins and uncertain of themselves, the Warden does not participate in this relationship and there is pining and awkwardness and silly angst until Morrigan is finally ready to shove them into her hut together in the aftermath.
(Any of the above could lead to co-parenting Kieran if you like to write that sort of thing, but if not then that's a ways off even after she conceives, so whatever you like.)
Alistair & Morrigan
I love their banter. It is one of the most satisfying parts of the game for me, and it's one reason I like to bring them places together, much to their chagrin. I like the way they can manage to be civil but be utterly unambiguous about how oil-and-water they find themselves to be and how much they hate each other. And yet, as I have continued playing, there are instances like when Morrigan addressed the aftermath of Alistair's meeting with Goldanna where she is clearly trying to express some kind of concern for him, but he just... doesn't get it.
- Trapped together with a great need to get back to the Warden to save them. They have to overcome or compromise on some of their differences in order to succeed and survive.
- Grieving a dead Warden together (whether one or both of them were in love with/in a relationship with the Warden up to you).
- Hurt/Comfort of the kind that it seems like Morrigan tried with regard with Goldanna. Something really emotionally hurts the other, and the unhurt party really doesn't like them, they believe, but they're uncomfortable just watching them hurt. Maybe they even try to be a jerk about it and rub it in at first but just can't.
Alistair/Morrigan
- Any of the same as above but with a romantic twist.
- In a world state where the Warden is not in a relationship with either of them, the Ritual makes them have strange feelings that conflict with their preconceived notions of how they feel about each other. I am particularly interested in this because I think Alistair would have a tough time with loveless sex being his first time, and Morrigan expressed knowing that she was messed up because of the way Flemeth presented sexuality to her (bringing men home, using them up, then killing them).
- Maybe in the aftermath of Male Warden/Morrigan being Kieran's parents, when Alistair goes to speak with her years later, they commiserate about missing the Warden (due to death or absence, though death makes it less complicated, I suppose). Fondness and familiarity blossom in a way they never expected and are not entirely comfortable with at first, but it eventually is a source of comfort for them.
- Same as above, but (not involved with the Warden ever) Alistair is Kieran's father, and while they never fell in love as a result of sex or anything like that, Morrigan allows Alistair into Kieran's life a little. Then, love and stuff happen. Amicable, tentative co-parenting become more.
Alistair/Female Cousland/Anora Mac Tir
For this relationship, please give me all the court/palace intrigue. I welcome angst about infidelity, uncertain relationship boundaries, and lines of succession and all that stuff that people might be anxious about not glossing over. If you aren't comfortable with writing infidelity or secrecy (at first, at least), then that's totally fine! Anora can be consenting given the circumstances of their marriage. But just know that it will not bother me at all to have these controversial elements in a story here.
- Alistair comes around to the fact that he cannot bear to lose Lady Cousland even if she cannot be his queen (for whatever in-universe reason you come up with). They have a secret affair with all the angst and guilt that would entail until eventually Anora learns the truth. Rather than making the country explode in another conflict, Anora finds (with however much ease or difficulty) the ability to understand and come around. This could involve varying levels of love for each other at different points or a pretty easy transition into polyamory once all is out in the open between them! I would like it if no one was unhappy in the end, but being unhappy in the beginning or middle is acceptable.
- Alistair, the Warden, and Anora are on the same page from the beginning. Anora does not love or really know either of them, but she makes the best of her politically expedient marriage. Perhaps their need to officially consummate the marriage leads to a menage-a-trios (on-page or not) which opens more emotional vulnerability and dialogue?
- Something about lines of succession. [CW: Pregnancy/Miscarriage] I know it is supposed to be difficult for Wardens to have children. Perhaps it could be that Anora manages to have a child with Alistair and the three of them parent it together. Or, it could be that the Warden manages to conceive either through intent or accident. Either it could be a bittersweet fic in which there is drama about this child's rights as being technically illegitimate which ultimately turns out well enough, or it could even be a fic about the Warden miscarrying a child she was never supposed to be able to conceive in the first place (hurt/comfort, obviously).
