Dear Candy Hearts Exchange Author
Dear Candy Hearts Exchange Author,
It has been a little over two years since I did an exchange that was large or complex enough to require a letter. Wow! That is a long time for me. So, forgive if this is rusty...
Anyway, I think I know how this works. Thank you for reading this letter, and I appreciate your taking the time to care about things an internet stranger or acquaintance would like.
Treats are enabled and welcome, and you can disregard my content type tags for them, if you want.
If you want to check me out in various places online, I am

Above all, I want explicit fics to continue to explore the character(s) in some way. Apart from the handful of things I've mentioned not wanting, I am interested in seeing whatever seems in-character, from vanilla to kinky, even if I don't share a particular kink. I'm open-minded and curious, so if it seems to fit your story, don't worry too much about whether or not I would like it.
That said, here are some things I find myself interested in characters exploring (or going through, as the case may be).
- aliens/aphrodisiacs/spells made them do it, with the assumption that the characters would've eventually come around to being together in some fashion anyway (I welcome all the messy and complicated aftermath, even them being upset or feeling violated or whatever you think would happen)
- edging
- post-orgasm torture (especially for men)
- characters who acknowledge when sex is kind of funny or awkward
All prompts are just suggestions. I would appreciate you read them, but if you have a fic in your heart that you already want to write that doesn't clash tremendously with the vibes I'm giving off or my DNWs, be free!
My personal headcanon/understanding of the characters is bi Hinata and gay Kageyama, if it helps spark anything interesting in your mind.
I love that the story refuses to let them be ~rivals~ from the start and how, while they try it for a few days after starting high school, characters and circumstances force them to become each other's most important companion/friend/whatever.
I would enjoy any pre-timeskip era pining stories about them being teenage boys with hormones and feelings and frustrations, but I would prefer everything remain PG-13 and full of the angst and inhibitions that teenagers often have.
On the other hand, I would enjoy post-timeskip stuff that is either canon compliant or divergent that is as messy and/or sexual as you feel like making it. I like the idea of Hinata and Kageyama having to come to terms with feelings while they're far apart and only seeing each other on occasion. A sense of power or experience imbalance.
For this fandom, I actually don't have any major ship-squicks, so I also don't mind if you want to include any background ships in your story of any kind. I also don't mind if one or both of the boys sleeps with other people over the course of finding each other, canon or random NPC. The only ship I would politely ask that you do not separate is Tsukishima/Yamaguchi. You don't have to include ANY other ships, obviously. I'm just trying to make it an option for the purposes of whatever story you want to write.
I enjoy stuff about language barriers and stuff. (Hinata seems to be reasonably competent at language-learning; Kageyama does not seem that good at it.) Helping and hindering each other. Being in uncomfortable situations. Tolerating discomfort for each other. Traveling. Having history other people don't understand.
I still want them to have a chance to actually fully acknowledge their feelings and be together. I have always been captivated by their dynamic in the series and the Rebellion movie. I almost sob every time I see their part in the Mysterioso sequence of the movie. I love how they genuinely think that they hate and can't stand each other by the recursion that's happening late in the original series, but they were probably actually always close. I also like the contrast in their upbringings and the things that brought them to tragedy.
I've also just been really into the kind of girl-focused horror aesthetic in other media, and I feel like I would like to see it further explored here.
While I would like a story where Homura gets redeemed or saved or whatever, I would also not mind a story where she is treated as the villain, especially post-Rebellion or in a canon-divergent AU.
It's hard to describe what I want here except to give you certain aesthetic markers that come to mind, like Jennifer's Body, Sofia Coppola movies, and the general sense of the anguish of being a teenage girl that was conveyed in the original canon.
I would not mind an AU where the girls are some other kind of monster, too. Like, vampires, or whatever. Give them more time, let them grow up, break curses, or just destroy things with some shred of hope mingled in there.
Mangaka Critical Statement: Being perfectly honest, I feel kind of scared to consume the rest of the canon after the Shibuya Incident arc, because I feel a bit like things I've heard about it feel like the author lost respect of the groundwork they'd laid and their own characters. I think it's really good up to that point, but everything I've read about what came after just feels a bit ick to me. So, whether or not you share this opinion, I'm asking anyone who writes fic for me in this fandom to save these characters from the spiral of... not even just death but meh that I feel they later got trapped in.
Note: If you are interested, I would be very happy with a fic that was both Megumi/Yuuji and Megumi/Sukuna with Yuuji and Sukuna being salty body-roommates who share a love interest/boyfriend.
I really like their dynamic, and I think that Megumi seems like he's kind of a lonely and evasive person who let Yuuji in a lot sooner than he meant to, because of who Yuuji is as a person, and feels that he has to deal with the consequences of that mistake or decision. Yuuji, on the other hand, is warmer and wants to do what feels right even if he doesn't know what is. I like their optimism versus cynicism, and how Yuuji just not knowing when to quit draws him in.
I like the overall horror aesthetic, but I also don't really like stuff that just ends without following through on a theme that makes a human feel like it's worth the suffering. I would like to see a canon divergent AU that allows some of this to happen. I'm not asking for someone to make it all sunshine and roses but for something that allows hope.
This is super-oddly-specific, but I have considered the idea of these two being transplanted into the Type Moon/Fate universe and wondering what that would look like. I feel like it has some interesting possibilities and that it feels less bleak? Idk, it's a thought I haven't been able to flesh out, so if you want it, go for it.
I would also be interested in just a slice-of-very-weird-life for them.
I also have a tendency to view them as older than they canonically are. It just feels like they're 18 or 19 and this is sorcery dying-college instead of seven-person high school to me. If you want to do anything sexy, then go with this assumption if you like, rather than worrying about timeskips, because my brain perceives it that way, anyway.
I enjoy Sukuna's early apparent interest in Megumi and how off-kilter it feels. I know that the idea is that he's interested in Megumi's powers and potential as a cursed-energy user, but I think the whole thing becomes much more interesting if Sukuna starts out wanting to vessel-hop but ultimately becomes fascinated with Megumi as a person and actually wants him. Megumi seems like he's isolated and separated enough from ordinary life that he would be at least curious, if not initially enthusiastic, about what Sukuna wants.
I would enjoy if it felt kind of creepy and predatory except that, ultimately, Megumi is the one with a lot of the power without realizing it due to Sukuna's fascination with him. Sukuna is trying to manipulate him but ends up wrapped up and influenced.
Time travel or some kind of domain where they're back in Sukuna's time but Megumi is there would be interesting.
Either some kind of very weird Sukuna switches sides, if not fully redeems himself, thing would be satisfying, as would a bittersweet thing where Sukuna is destroyed and Megumi feels some type of way about it.
Power dynamic mindfuck in all directions, please, but give Megumi better than he gets in canon. ♥
Their dynamic and potential from Season 1 through Season 2A haunts me, and even though I like what they did with Framework Ward as a way to give us some closure, I just really want a fix fic or AU that will give my heart some piece of itself back after 2B betrayed my expectations out of cowardice, or whatever actually happened.
I love Skye | Daisy so much as a character, even though she has flaws and says awful things sometimes. I like how she tries and cares but isn't a fan of authority for its own sake. I like the shine of her spirit, even when she's heartbroken.
For Ward, I think that he is an interesting and prescient kind of character who was, in some respect, only partially radicalized by something that he felt he owed allegiance to due to its "saving" him and promising him things that it would only ever hurt him with. Then, when that awful thing was defeated, his efforts at redemption were solidly denied by the "good" guys.
I would love any canon-divergent AU that takes things differently from the point at which SHIELD tried to use Ward's release to his brother as a "war criminal" or whatever. There are a lot of different opportunities for Ward to actually be given he chance to do the hard work and show that he can be an antihero, at least, without them twisting the knife and turning the heels so many times that it doesn't matter anymore.
I would love for Skye | Daisy to have to deal with her own sin of shooting Ward in the back, because that has never sat right with me, or create a situation where she sees something worth believing before that ever happens (fix fic).
(Noting my one DNW about oppressive regimes, I don't really want fanfic about present-day politics, but I would enjoy fics about killing or otherwise eliminating fascists, but for your sake, no real world figures.)
On the other hand, I would literally just like an AU where they're characters in Leverage or something.
I'm new in town to all of this, but this show caught me more than I thought it would when it was just described to me. I love how fanfic-y it is already while also having some very interesting, original choices compared to other things I've seen on western TV.
I love both characters a lot. I enjoy Shane being so obviously neurodivergent and it not really being treated as anything but an aspect of his character and personality. Sometimes, it causes him more problems, and sometimes, it might even shield him from others that might arise. Separately, I also like how he's the kind of male character I decide is a "puppy," and I love how he behaves when he's even the least bit comfortable with someone. Ilya, on the other hand, grew on me a lot, and I like that even when he does "bad" things that he's usually trying very earnestly and has a good heart. I also enjoy how he's a smartass but also really very smart.
I like that they're both bilingual. I like when this causes communication issues or when they work through it.
Types of fics I would be happy to receive include: slice of life between their games, canon divergent AUs of various kinds involving various tropes, some kind of supernatural or speculative fiction element being introduced into their world where they're still hockey players, social media-based fic (a skill I admire but don't yet have), being around a friend and still trying to keep their feelings and/or relationship (whatever it is at the time) under wraps, or exploring a new kink/position/whatever with each other and its surrounding silliness or emotionally raw ramifications.
Note: Where ship tags overlap, feel free to mix and match pieces of ideas. If you chose the 2-person tag rather than the 3-person tag, you can do whatever you want with regard to the third person (like is there an implication it could become or sometimes be poly or not) as long as you are not mean to them.
I enjoy how each of them has significant gaps in their sense of self, but they're still unique people who wholeheartedly view each other as family. I would love a fic exploring how this leads to some kind of polyamorous relationship or which takes it for granted. I particularly think Dan Heng is extremely cool for how he is often quiet and gives neurodivergent vibes but is so focused on protecting and helping others but his loved ones specifically. When I'm playing, I usually pick the weirdest possible responses for Stelle to give, though not every time, and I'm fascinated with the idea of various lore theories about Trailblazer. And for March, I like how she takes herself for granted as the main character in a certain sense, and they indulge her. I'm also interested in any theorizing about her past or future.
Among other things I would enjoy: slice of life/monster of the week, first-time or unusual sexual encounter, supporting one of them through something traumatic or weird, the awkwardness of their polycule for the other members of the Star Rail family (mis-sent texts, etc).
Maybe a bit redundant given the above, but I picked this one, because I would be interested in a fic that specifically looked at their relationship while they are stuck on/in Amphoreus. I am fascinated with the way Dan Heng knows something is wrong with Stelle the entire time, and how they spend such long, long periods of time apart but are still very much concerned with each other's welfare. I would be interested in a fic that either explores this from the perspective of an established relationship or a developing one. Stuff about death, time, and preservation. Or, you know, just funny bath house hijinks and/or sex. Also, the aftermath of Amphoreus for them, returning back 'home' with the bittersweet knowledge of their friends they spent the equivalent of years with being... kind of alive but also kind of not real (yet).
I just... them. Specifically, the way Phainon is so fucking mad that he can't just have this every time he has to go through his self-imposed hell again just to save some part of them and the way Mydei insists that he will do it as many times as it takes even when he has to learn over and over that his friend/lover kills him. I will scream inside forever.
Also... something about how Phainon thought that he should take the Strife coreflame, Mydei initially didn't want the Strife coreflame but felt competitive and some type of way about it because that's his people's god, but then even after Mydei becomes a demigod of Strife it feels like he kind of half-worships Phainon as an embodiment of what his people worship about the concept of Strife while himself not feeling particularly reverent about the original idea of Strife???
I'm also fascinated by the idea that they're going through these permutations over and over and over and that you basically have built in AUs. There's also that official art of Phainon being a pilot and Mydei being a rockstar. And the way original-Phainon-as-Phainon was going to go learn about being a warrior in Kremnos, and there's some cycle where they studied together in the Grove (college AU). Just go with whatever plausible AU cycle you want.
There's also all kinds of relationship dynamics I can see them having, from thinking they're friends-with-benefits but are actually in love to courtly love pining to arranged marriage to just falling in love in a normal way. I want to pull the lever on the phaidei roulette and see what you give me.
I feel like it's not unfair to ask you to read the above for the Mydei/Phainon part. With the addition of Khaslana, I guess I'm asking for one of two things, if you want to go this route:
Some kind of emotional exploration piece about the way Khaslana and Phainon are essentially different drafts of the same file and Mydei kind of knows and accepts this. Phainon would see himself as ruined as Khaslana, and Khaslana doesn't care if he's ruined because of what he knows he has to do or to stop.
Kinky stuff. Maybe mild cucking kink that eventually breaks to something more emotionally satisfying/hopeful/cathartic.
I am consistently fascinated with the idea of whether or not Teyvat is "real" and if it isn't, then what is it? What are Aether and Lumine? And so on. I'm not the most well-versed on the lore, but I love how weird it is and welcome any interpretations of it. I also just like character and ship-based fics that take things for being as at face value as the characters do on most days of their lives.
I play with Aether as the Traveler and Lumine as the Abyss Princess, but if it serves your story or your brain better to have it be the reverse, go for it. Just maybe let me know if that's what I'm working with in your author's note, so I can recalibrate.
I love that Aether's native-to-himself powers seem to be based on light or stars or something celestial or solar while Xiao is covered in gross, icky karmic clouds that he hates but bears because he doesn't want it out in the world. I love the idea that, in his true nature, Aether can provide Xiao some kind of relief from this.
If Aether is the Traveler, I just love the Traveler/Xiao dynamic, where Xiao is one of the characters who most consistently shows up for the Traveler in spite of the fact that he was a prickly being who never wanted to interact with anyone for a few centuries before the Traveler got involved.
I'd love anything dealing with Xiao's past and how it presently affects him. Them learning about each other. Becoming intimate in various ways.
If you are from the land of Aether is the Abyss Prince, then feel free to explore their "matching" darkness and maybe the fact that it is natural to Xiao but isn't to Aether?
I am not from the camp that views this as "actual" incest or even that problematic in any real sense. That said, I think it is fun and entertaining for them to explore the supposed-taboo of it, if it even exists at all, for them, because it's much more akin to Kaeya being Crepus's "ward" than an actual adopted child, in my opinion.
That said, I do like the fuzzy boundaries of relationship and meaning that you can find between them. I also like how everything is kind of the opposite of what it first seems. Initially, it seems like that Diluc is cold and closed off to Kaeya and mistrusts him because of their respective personas in public, whereas it seems like Kaeya is warm and open to Diluc getting the stick out of his ass so they can be friendly again. However, as the story develops, one sees that Diluc feels awful for having hurt Kaeya in the past, resulting in part of his less healthy coping mechanisms, while Kaeya is the one terrified to let Diluc back in lest he push him out again.
I would enjoy any kind of canon-divergent AU or a look at a life they lead where the Traveler doesn't show up or, in the event that Teyvat is cyclical as it might be, another cycle of their lives with slightly different trappings or apparent-time-period/technology. Give everyone texting, or whatever.
So yeah, pseudo-incest taboo/kink welcome but not required. Business or political intrigue. Reconciliation and forgiveness. Hurt/Comfort. Trapped in a freezing location/only one bed. I also have a pet spot for Kaeya actually getting to interact with horses (not in a sexual way).
I love the way Zhongli apparently essentially manipulates his way into being Childe's sugar baby, in spite of the age gap in his favor, and Childe just goes with it during the original Liyue plot, truly believing that Zhongli is just this kind of socially connected but eccentric older man. I am fascinated by how often Tartaglia gets treated as someone who, while neither stupid nor incompetent, gets treated that way by the world, the plot, and the older or more important power players around him, even though he should have some power of his own. I also like how he seems to be so cynical but to actually care about the Tsaritsa and what he is sent around to do, despite hating intrigue and preferring to fight directly. He seems like he's the Worst Spy but also the Best Harbinger in terms of actually caring about what is supposed to be doing and for whom and why. Zhongli, on the other hand, is just so old and has seen his world change so much that everything is a bit of a game to him. I don't think he even realizes that he has hurt Childe very deeply by humiliating him. It isn't even just that he lied by omission but did so so spectacularly that it made Childe specifically look like an idiot, especially if you assume that they actually were involved in some kind of sexual and closer social relationship.
I would love to have a fic that is either a scene between them from before the Traveler showed up (sexy or otherwise) with some character exploration or an opportunity for them to meet again. I want Tartaglia to have a chance to let Zhongli know how absolutely he wants vengeance for his own dignity and to see how it plays out for them. Messy, ugly. Is there violence or does Zhongli simply refuse to allow that catharsis? What happens?

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Skye | Daisy Johnson/Grant Ward
Heated Rivalry
Shane Hollander/Ilya Rozanov
崩坏:星穹铁道 | Honkai: Star Rail
Note: Where ship tags overlap, feel free to mix and match pieces of ideas. If you chose the 2-person tag rather than the 3-person tag, you can do whatever you want with regard to the third person (like is there an implication it could become or sometimes be poly or not) as long as you are not mean to them.
Dan Heng/March 7th/Stelle
Dan Heng/Stelle
Mydei/Phainon
I just...
Khaslana | Flame Reaver/Mydei/Phainon
原神 | Genshin Impact
Aether/Xiao
Diluc/Kaeya
Tartaglia | Childe/Zhongli
