[comm] dear rare shipswap author:

Dear Rare ShipSwap author,

Thank you so much for writing something for me! Whatever we matched on, I'm so glad someone else likes the things I do and is willing to write for me. First and foremost, have fun with what you write! I know waiting for a good opportunity to write about rarer ships can leave you with a backlog of ideas, so write what you are most passionate about and see my requests and prompts as guidelines and suggestions. Modify them as you see fit, bearing in mind the couple of things I don't want, etc. I'm sure I'll be thrilled with whatever I receive.

Likes: domesticity / slice of life, missing scenes, character study, action / adventure, traveling / vacations, hurt / comfort, partnership, constructive confrontation, realistic use of social media where appropriate / epistolary fiction, canon typical violence

Special Note: I've requested a lot of three-person pairings, so just to clarify - I like stories where everyone is mutually invested and interested in each other. I'm not really interested in love triangles or begrudging acceptance being endgame, if that makes sense. The situation can be as rocky as you want, but I'd like some kind of resolution of anything like that.

Dislikes: character bashing towards anybody, graphic depictions of rape / rape as plot device, gore, breathplay, bloodplay, nihilism, hopeless endings (but sad is okay)

Now for some fandom-specific stuff!

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Ship: Aang/Katara/Zuko (Avatar)

I really love the idea of the three of them balancing each other out. I really enjoy canon Katara/Aang, but I just can't help thinking Zuko needs them. As far as symbolism is concerned, I definitely get the sense that Katara and Zuko really do exemplify the elements they bend and that the Water/Fire balance would be hard to sustain without Aang being there, too. I was also really moved even early on by the idea that, while at the time it was strange and kind of twisted, that what Aang was doing even in Zuko's life was giving him hope. I love the found family aspect of the Gaang and would welcome the whole Gaang being around if it suits you. If you're going to do anything of a sexual nature in your story, make sure Aang is old enough, thanks!

Prompts: I really enjoy the idea of how their respective social and political roles would balance in various situations that would put the three of them together - Zuko as the Fire Prince/Lord, Aang as the Avatar, and Katara as a Waterbending Master (and also Chief Hakoda's daughter possibly). Any kind of little political drama would be really entertaining to me and could be interpreted a bunch of different ways. More casual cultural clash and varied rituals and things like that are also interesting. Canon-divergent AUs or post-canon stories are both fine with me.

Young Justice (Cartoon)

Ship: Artemis Crock/Dick Grayson/Wally West (YJ)

I think canon indicates that Wally was essentially Dick's first friend after Batman took him in. I always thought that was really sweet, and I thought Dick was always really, really intense about that. Throughout canon, I can't help but notice how protective he seems of Wally, Artemis, and their relationship. I always thought that maybe his finicky sense of commitment to other romantic entanglements might have something to do with his heart already being preoccupied with them. While I think they may be oblivious at first, I think that one or both of them becoming aware might change things interestingly.

Prompts: Dick and Artemis went to school together at Gotham Academy. Something canon-divergent set during that time might be fun. Maybe Wally has a date with his girlfriend and has to deal with the fact that he knows his best friend's secret identity and she doesn't? And something could ensue. Or, something post-canon in the line of a Wally fix-fic with Dick/Artemis hurt/comfort having happened would be bittersweet and great to read.

Young Avengers

Ship: Kate Bishop/Eli Bradley/Tommy Shepherd

I really miss the three of them interacting in Volume 1. I thought that the jealousy thing could have been resolved in a better and clearer way than it was. Tommy and Eli clearly kept in some kind of contact, based on what Tommy said in Volume 2 to David. Kate cared a lot about both of them, and I was a little disappointed in the way her feelings about both of them being so absent and Tommy actually being missing in Volume 2 weren't really explored. I think Kate and Eli being the co-leaders of the Young Avengers and how that power dynamic shifted and changed overtime was one of the most interesting dynamics in Volume 1. Tommy being their wildcard but also falling so into synch with Kate also is really great. I just want more interaction between the three of them.

Prompts: I would welcome elaboration, fix-fic, or alternate canon from some aspect of Volume 2. I liked certain elements of it, but I wasn't crazy about the nail-on-the-head metaphor, flashy plot that seemed to move a little too fast. However, it definitely had potential so if you want to use some pieces of it, go ahead! Eli left with a real crisis of self worth and feeling competent, so maybe his further interaction with Kate and Tommy, either during Volume 2 or after it, could help all of them as they move into early adulthood. Something set during Volume 1 - a slice of life, domestic or adventurous, would be fun!

The 100

Ships: Bellamy Blake/Clarke Griffin/Raven Reyes, Bellamy Blake/Raven Reyes

I just finished Season 1/started on Season 2, but I should be caught up by the time posting happens! I really love Clarke and Bellamy's co-leadership and how they sort of move together and them move apart as leaders. Their differing backgrounds and perspectives clashing in a political way in the difficult, pretty feral situation they're in really intrigues me. I really love Raven in general - so, so, so much. I am so proud of how resilient she is, and I have loved to see Raven and Clarke bond bit by bit even though they had some initial rockiness because of the situation with Finn. I would enjoy either the OT3 or just Bellamy/Raven equally! I am touched by how Bellamy does try to look after Raven emotionally even though he'd never admit it.

Prompts: If Raven hadn't been shot and maybe she and Bellamy had been the ones to get away and separated from the group during the S1 finale, I think that might be interesting for either ship combination - if it's with Clarke then the reunion, of course, would play into it - but either way Raven and Bellamy surviving together on their own would be interesting. Or all three of them being separated from the group would be interesting. Or, if you'd like, all of them ending up at Mount Weather - or a reversal where Clarke was the one left on her own.
