Dear Yuletide Author,

Happy winter and holiday season. I love this time of year: lights and not being hot. I am open to fics that involve the season or seasonal holidays but certainly don't require them. I'm super excited to be able to choose the option to let you essentially do "or" matching for my prompts this year. I would like fics that include any or all of my requested characters, if I have selected more than one. I divide my letters into Preferences and Prompts. My Preferences tend to be similar across exchanges and I only alter them if appropriate or I have had a change of tastes. If, however, a prompt seems to conflict with an expressed preference, please consider the prompt to supersede the preference.

I enjoy fic of any genre, of any rating, of any length, that doesn't contradict a DNW. Plot-heavy or character/fluff/ship pieces are equally appreciated.

I enjoy fic that includes explorations of characters' sexuality as it is related to their relationship(s). Therefore, I like kink or vanilla or any tone choice to be determined by what would be most fitting for the characters in-context (within the bounds of my DNWs).

That said, I like these specific things if it makes sense for the characters: aliens/circumstances/spells-made-them-do-it if they both would have been attracted to each other at some point and this was a push and the aftermath is treated with some weight, overstimulation/edging that is emotionally charged

Prompts

Barbie (Movie 2023)

Margot Robbie's Barbie, Ryan Gosling's Ken

I really enjoyed their characters' ultimately non-romantic relationship. I am sort of fascinated with the fact that they seem to have been "assigned" to be "boyfriend and girlfriend" but, originally, not in any sort of Controversial Reddit way. However, it is obvious that Barbie was still able to maintain most of her boundaries, while also somewhat giving Ken obligations she took for granted or didn't even want him to fulfill. The fact that they ultimately care about each other genuinely, even when Ken finally understands that she does not romantically love him and doesn't want to try, really satisfies me. Barbie is still gentle with him, and he seems genuinely grateful to her in the end.

I would enjoy a fic focusing on either character on their own, adjusting in the post-movie state of affairs, either in the Real World or in Barbie Land. If you would like to do worldbuilding about the way these two worlds are connected and if there are other similar worlds, I would be open to that as long as there is some kind of character-related stuff to one or both of my selected characters.

If you want to make it so Ken ends up in the Real World and must also adjust, I would enjoy that, too. However, I would prefer that Barbie get to stick to her decision to ultimately live in the Real World, even if she visits Barbie Land.

For their relationship, if you write both, I don't mind and even encourage if it's messy. I would also like them just being wholesome friends. However, I would like to ultimately stay the movie's course of not having them be in a conventional romantic relationship in the end.

The Wheel of Time (TV)

Rand Al'Thor, Egwene Al'Vere, Mat Cauthon

I would enjoy a fic about all of these characters together or in pairs or individually. If you would like to make the three of them end up in a polyamorous situation, that would make me very happy. However, I would be interested in pairing any pair together as only two. If you want to have the best of both worlds, maybe two of them are together and it eventually gives way to polyamory.

I just don't want a hopeless ending for any of them, as covered by my general DNWs.

I am new to the Wheel of Time world, not having read the books, though I have friends who have read them. If you want to expand on the world either in accordance with the books or in accordance with your own imagination for the show, I would be down for that. I really like the fact that ruins of a much more modern or even futuristic society exist within their world, and if you need a set-piece in your fic, I would be excited for anything that includes that.

I am very interested in the culture, especially surrounding femininity, from the Two Rivers and Egwene's potential as an Aes Sedai. Making one or both of the boys her Warder would also be satisfying to me. I would love to learn more about her and the world through her eyes.

I am interested in how Rand initially seems both very salt of the earth and very resistant to any idea that he is special or different, not only as the Dragon but also as someone who is from a different culture than the one he believed was his own. I am interested in Rand's process of coping with being able to channel, and I would like it if anything could mitigate some of his suffering, but feel free to include the suffering, too. Hurt/comfort is good for Rand.

I love what a mess Mat is but how his friends care about him anyway. I also sympathize a lot with his having grown up poor and with his seeming to like kids out of sympathy with his sisters. I would also enjoy hurt/comfort for Mat, but go heavy on the comfort, pleas. That said, I would also like Mat having to mature, grow up, and become more open-minded in ways that suit him as a character. I have also heard that he really struggled with Rand being able to channel in the books, so I would like any show-based take on that.

Steins;Gate

Okabe Rintarou

I was really torn about whether to choose one character or all characters for this fandom, but I love Okabe so much. I love how he has an entire fleshed-out persona to put forward but becomes increasingly mature and more vulnerable as the canon continues.

I would love any character-study piece. I would also enjoy any shippy Okabe/Kurisu fic about them learning how to bridge the gaps between their conscious knowledge of each other and growing up and into a relationship. I would even enjoy sexy fic about them as long as it is driven by characterization. I would also be open to Okabe/Maho is a hurt/comfort in grief thing (from Steins;Gate 0) or some fic that managed everyone-alive Okabe/Kurisu/Maho.

For any other character in the entire canon, I would enjoy gen fic about them having an adventure in peril or a slice of life. I love them fighting to maintain the precious status quo that is hard-earned. I especially love Ruka and Suzuha, the other two characters nominated in the tagset I haven't mentioned, and their dynamics with Okabe.

I would even enjoy reading a fic that is exclusively about Okabe being inside his own head.

Kara no Kyoukai | The Garden of Sinners

Kokutou Mikiya

I love Mikiya and how he, in being so "normal" on a fundamental and cosmic level, seems to be drawn to the abnormal in an opposites-attract kind of way. I would enjoy any slice of life for him, either during or after canon. I would like to know how he copes with literally any situation, good or bad, that arises from all he's dealing with as a result of the things he allows into and even forcibly keeps in his life.

If you want to do a shippy-fic, I would enjoy Mikiya/Shiki or in a weird kind of unhealthy hurt/comfort way Mikiya/Touko. If you want to include something about Azaka's feelings about Mikiya, I do not have a particular same-generational incest squick. However, I don't think Mikiya would ultimately want to be with her, so I wouldn't want endgame Mikiya/Azaka.

I enjoy Mikiya being surprisingly competent and the damsel in distress who is saved. Either is very good.

Jurassic Park (Original Trilogy)

Ian Malcolm

Ian Malcolm has lived in my head most of my conscious-life as a formative curiosity. I would love to read any slice-of-life fic about him or any survival-based fic about him. If you want to include any of his both on- and off-screen love interests or children, that is up to you! I do also enjoy Alan/Ellie/Ian if you feel like writing that, and even if you don't want it to be shippy, an ongoing bond and friendship with them makes me happy.

If you want to go for more surviving dinosaurs in the wild fic, I enjoy all the wilderness survival and bonding with characters tropes that go along with that.

If you feel confident writing about his career in academia, I would also enjoy reading that, though I'm always too nervous to write much of it.
